Maybe I need to upgrade pkgsrc?  When did you last update pkgsrc on your
machine?  Or does the Makefile lie when it says

ONLY_FOR_PLATFORM=      NetBSD-1.5[Y-Z]*-i386 NetBSD-1.[6-9]*-i386
