Yes, I know it looks like a KDE question, but...

Happened after I did these...

1. Upgraded to NetBSD 1.5.3
2. Tried make on KDE3

...but it wouldn't make, so I...

3. Querried netbsd-help and learnt about 
   the toolchain prob for 1.5.3 on KDEArtwork...

...so next I...

4. pkg_delete kde
5. make, make install of /usr/pkgsrc/kde2

...and still did it, so I...

6. Upgraded NetBSD to -current via AnonCVS

...but it wouldn't build, so I...

7. Down-graded NetBSD to 1.5.4_Alpha via AnonCVS

...and that built fine, so I...

8. tried make, on KDE3 again

...but it crashed in same way again, so I...

9.  pkg_delete kde
10. make, make install on /usr/pkgsrc/x11/kde2

...but I still get this at startup...

...during which time I see X flash grey four/five times. But after that I
still I can do...

...and I get the regular, plain Jane X11 stuff okay. I can even do...

12. sodipodi

...from X and get drawings and all that stuff. So X looks okay, just
kde and kdm are messed up.

Anybody seen this before. Can you lead me (by the hand and/or nose ring)
as may need be? I very probably messed up something simple in the above
round-and-round with different things. I got interrupted a lot in the
process: wife, son, work, jury duty, etc.
