Have installed OSS (Open Sound System) on NetBSD 1.5.4_Alpha
so that all the CLI stuff works. Am now trying to get it to
work with KDE and audacity. Got this advice from OSS web
site...

Here's what you do:

1) Go to http://www.arts-project.org and download the artsd sources

2) Configure it for using OSS audio (ie. copy
  /usr/lib/oss/soundcard.h to /usr/include/sys/soundcard.h
and also copy soundcard.h to /usr/include/machine/soundcard.h

...but on running "configure" prior to "make" for arts, I get
this warning...

You're missing libaudiofile. aRts won't be able to load or play
any samples without it, so please install it.
Have a look at http://oss.sgi.com/projects/audiofile/ or find a
binary package for your platform.

...even though I do have libaudiofile installed (in fact it
is required but quite a lot of packages). Might anyone know how
to overcome this snag?

Thanks,

Gan

PS -- The record function on OSS seems to work very fine. I can save
wav files and all. They sound great when played back. And they load fine
into audacity. But neither KDE nor audacity will play them till I get
arts configured. As of present I can only play them via OSS's CLI
function "play".
