Make sure your HTTPD is started up with enough processes.
(I am thinking that when Apache switches to your "www" user for the PHP it
doesn't use the "login" class settings.)
Use something like the following to see your maxproc setting for the
Apache/PHP process:
sysctl proc.25205.rlimit.maxproc # replace PID
