Well, I tried rebooting to check that, and no luck. From dmesg:

Trying to mount /dev/wd1a or /dev/wd1c still gets "Device not configured".

I'm not sure what they mean. The same drive attached to a Mac running
OS X reads the device just fine, and the first partition on the
device is a Unix file system.
More clues appreciated!
