Howdy, 

Strange problem with startx and mgetty. 

I have four window managers: twm, icewm, wmaker,
startkde. The twm does NOT do it. But other three
all do. 

It started happening right after I installed
mgetty+sendfax. It only does it on the laptop
with modem in pcmcia as tty03. It does not do
it on the Celeron tower with USR modem on tty00. 

When I call startx, X will hang with a black
screen and the white box curser at upper left.
It will un-hang if I pop the modem out and back
in from its pcmcia slot. 

I get nothing from .xsession-errors. 

If I kill mgetty and try all four window managers
again...then no problem with any of them. 

Any clues?
