Thanks for the replies. The scsi controller in my Dell system is Adaptec
AIC 78XX series Controller.
I don't have an IDE disk, the system has only SCSI disks. Do I need to get
another NetBSD image, which has support for SCSI.
please help me.

I did not see the start of this thread, but I've installed onto several
system
with SCSI (only) drives. What I missed is: What SCSI controller is being
used?
