I went on an expedition to obtain a CD-drive cleaning kit. It has printed
instructions saying that I should run a program that they include, but the
brushes seem to be at the right spot to clean my lens, anyway. Maybe I was
just lucky, maybe I was just NOT unlucky. (If that hadn't worked, I would
have tried something like "wc /dev/cd1d"...)
Anyway, I've now burned a NetBSD-current CD and my laptop is installing.
All is happy once again in Pleasantville---if you ignore the alien
invasion.
