You've never had that before?  I have it intermittantly.  The last time
that I had it was when I was trying to get the OpenSSH updates.

What you're doing wrong is you're picking the wrong time.  (Really.)

As near as I understand it, the server(s) can overload when lots of people
try to access it.  You may get failed connects or perhaps even botched
updates.

You might try a mirror, or just wait a while.
