Ah ... just had another attempt.  Setting the IPF rules to block on 
port 500 doesn't seem to work.  It might be better to use 
ipsec_set_policy.   Had a look at the man page for ipsec and it says I 
can do that.  Problem is that when I try 'ipsec_set_policy (discard 
in) I am told ....  "Badly placed ()'s"

What is the syntax for telling ipsec to discard incoming or outgoing 
requests ?
