Hi.
I just finished setting up 1.6.1 system but a serious problem made me=20
start all over again, now I am trying to setup 1.6.2.
I have a problem with which I had solved in 1.6.1:
.- In 1.6.1 mouse in X worked with "device =3D mouse" and "protocol =3D=20=
Auto".
.- In 1.6.2 "mouse" is missing. (I rerun /dev/MAKEDEV all just in case)
I think the 1.6.1 /dev/mouse was a link to some existing device, but I=20=
just can=B4t find which one: I only have /dev/wsmouse and =20
/dev/wsmouse0,1,2 &3 in xf86cfg.
I also know I didn=B4t create /dev/mouse as a link in 1.6.1 so either=20
this has changed in 1.6.2, or somehow it was created unadvertedly...
I linked /dev/mouse to /dev/tty00 and didn't work. What else could I=20
try? I have checked dmesg but I don=B4t know what might refer to the=20
mouse.
My mouse has three buttons and a round 1,5 cm diameter connector with 5=20=
male pins.
What protocol and device fit that description?
I have used XF86Config to create the initial script, and then xf86cfg=20
to fine tune it but no protocol seems to work with /dev/wsmouse device:
.- Protocols wsmouse, Auto, BusMouse and ThinkingMouse freeze xf86cfg.
Ctrl + Alt + backspace doesn=B4t go back to the text promp, =
rather does=20
some sort of strange "degauss" to the monitor =BF?
I have to shutdown the machine.
.- All the other protocols simply don=B4t work: after clicking "Apply=20
changes" the mouse still doesn=B4t move.
I really don=B4t have a clue.
Thanks for any help
Gerardo
