You may configure your default route, executing:

# route add default <your router's IP>

You may specify this in the application's
configuration you use to achieve this.
Using i.e. the mozilla browser, that talks all the=20
protocols mentionned, you should specify the above proxy=20
settings in:

Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Proxies (check=20
"Manual proxy configuration"=20
and eventually also say to
"Use these settings for SSL, FTP and Gopher" by
pressing the so named button.
