From my understanding pkgsrc-wip is for developing packages that may
eventually make it into pkgsrc (wip == work in progress I think). You
can download a snapshot tarball from the website and use it the same way
you would with pkgsrc. It includes lots of packages not found in
pkgsrc.
That said, you can set up the foomatic-rip script by hand. That's what
I did before I found out about the pkgsrc-wip package. For some reason
a lot of the PPDs found at www.linuxprinting.org require
foomatic-rip. If you just download foomatic-rip from the website, you
may have to edit the perl script (i.e. the paths).
