System: NetBSD i386 install cd releases 2.0.2 and 2.0
Architecture: i386
Machine: i386
Description:
While attempting to install NetBSD using the install CD (versions
available at ftp://iso.jp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/iso/2.0.2/i386cd.iso
and ftp://iso.jp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/iso/2.0/i386live.iso), booting
fails. The system freezes; the last few lines of text are as follows:
wd0 at atabus0 drive 0: <Maxtor 32049U3>
wd0: drive supports 16-sector PIO transfers, LBA addressing
wd0: 19541 MB, 39704 cyl, 16 head, 63 sec, 512 bytes/sect x 40021632 sector=
s
wd0: 32-bit data port
wd0: drive supports PIO mode 4, DMA mode 2, Ultra-DMA mode 4 (Ultra/66)
wd0(siside0:0:0): using PIO mode 4, DMA mode 3 (using DMA data transfers)
siside0:0:0 lost interrupt
=09type: ata tc_bcount: 512 tc_skip: 0
siside0:0:0 bus-master DMA error: missing interrupt, status=3D0x21
This seems to be identical to the bug listed here:
http://mail-index.netbsd.org/netbsd-bugs/2004/09/24/0003.html
However, I do not have the option suggested there of disabling
'Ultra-DMA' in BIOS.
I'd still like to install NetBSD, patched to work properly. However,
my resources here are minimal: I cannot compile from the machine I'm
emailing with, and the system I'm installing to has neither a floppy
drive nor a cd burner.
How should I go about accomplishing this?
