I have the same problems (no mailserver configured on my box), so I alias
send-pr on my boxes like so:
alias send-pr=3D'env LOGNAME=3Dpeter.bex@student.ru.nl send-pr'
(I don't permanently set LOGNAME because some programs have problems
with this variable, notably emacs; the sucker tries to read
/home/$LOGNAME/.emacs on startup)
send-pr will set what's in LOGNAME as the From and Reply-to fields
