If changing permisions and ownership of /dev/ files is "normal"
operation for local administration in NetBSD (sounds strange for me,
but...), then /dev files should be treated just like /etc files. So,
who knows the answer and where is the best place to ask about result
of source/binary updates for /dev files and future plans for this?

True, I just forget about this :) In my view /dev/cd* files readable by
world is much worse solution than changing group to 'cdrom' or
something. Isn't it? ;)
