i had (actually, i still have) a perl script that i wrote.  which
sucked.  then i wrote the same thing in c.  much better.  i suppose if
i (a) cleaned up the code a tiny bit and (b) wrote some documentation
(ie, a man page) it could get added.

very useful, imho.
