Version of tar doesn't handle files older than 1970.

I did a google groups search and I see there is a newer 1.13.x version
that supposedly fixes this. Experimental tar is at
ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/tar/

Also, there are some patches for archivers/gtar-base pkgsrc that may be
useful.

Maybe try without starting "/" or try with starting "./".
