It's a winmodem, right?
I did some googling (I have a T42) and came away very discouraged.
That said, have a look at http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/ibm.html -- a
site I found from www.ibm.com/linux. The T42 page I looked at pointed
to slmodem; I've downloaded it, but since it has linux loadable kernel
modules it's going to take some work. Worse yet, there's a .o file as
part of the driver....
The package also speaks of using the ALSA driver, and includes some
patches to it. That may be a better starting point.
