Thanks for your help and your time!  I'll give the dealer a ring
tomorrow morning and see if it's possible to get a refund or something.

According to www.socketcom.com/support/support_serial.asp?Type=DIO
there are "Standard Dual Serial I/O" cards and "High-Speed Dual Serial
I/O" cards. An older "Standard" card might have worked, but mine is a
newer "High-Speed" one.
