issues with USB2.0 HUB+LAN+PS/2+Serial device

I have a 'USB 2.0 LAN Dock' device which is essentially a four port
USB 2.0 hub with ethernet, serial and PS/2 style keyboard and mouse
connectors which I'm using with my Asus Eee PC 1000h and NetBSD 4.0

So far I've been able to get the LAN port working fine and have been
able to burn DVDs via the USB ports, so I'm confident this portion of
the device is working OK:

When using the PS/2 keyboard connector, or when using a USB mouse (and
sometimes when using a USB keyboard) I seem to get USB dropouts (for
want of a better term) - dmesg reports a very very large number of the
following messages and the mouse freezes until the motion stops
at which point I can move it a little more ... which sounds like a 
classic stack/FIFO overrun somewhere ...

When using the PS/2 keyboard (an original IBM Model M c1984, for those
interested), the laptop sometimes misses the key-up event which makes
typing extremely difficult ...

Plugging the USB keyboard directly into the laptop seems to work fine,
although I can't find my original PS/2->USB converter to test that,
sorry.

Is there something I can do to improve this? I'd be happy to test code
if that would help ...
