DISPLAY variable is not set with Xorg

Hi, I'm running 5.0_BETA on i386. When I type 'startx' at the console, Xserver 
starts, but it doesn't set DISPLAY variable. This causes problems with xfce4 
desktop environment.

Any idea why DISPLAY is not set?
