You can check this by creating a quick test.php page in which you put the following: <?php phpinfo(); ?> then request this page in your browser. Don't forget to delete it! If you don't have it installed, look for the php5-mysql package. If you have it but it doesn't show up in phpinfo output, you will need to add it to your php.ini.
