You, Sir, are my hero! :-)))))

With a bit of help from xrandr --prop, I got it right! Now I just have to 
figure out how to get this to play nicely with gdm!

I've been tearing my hair trying to get dual head to work, on 
different occasions with different displays and different NV cards, and 
never succeeded.

At last! THANK YOU!

(Insert fine rant about how X is too god-damn complex for it's own good 
here -- too happy to produce one myself right now. ;O) )
