rdist

I just tried to

  nfs mount /remote
  rdist /remote to /local

and get many:

  rdist: rmchk: unexpected response '
  ucam.comp-serv.announce'
  rdist: server: unknown command ''
  rdist: update: unexpected response ''

and of course "no password entry for uid ..." (does that matter?)

I tried the local nfs mount to avoid setting up rshd, but that should still
work, shouldn't it?

Do you all install and use rsync instead or are there still some rdist
users left?

(I thought of using mtree+pax instead - good or bad idea?)
