cups-pdf not producing pdfs

After installing cups-pdf, tried adding cups-pdf through cups web ui. As
per cups-pdf documentation, a "Virtual PDF printer" is supposed to appear
in the list when trying to add a printer, though I did not find anything
like that.

I could add a printer through lpadmin command, after which it appeared in
cups web ui. It is accepting jobs also, however it isn't producing pdfs.

As per the settings pdfs are supposed to go to /var/spool/cups-pdf, though
nothing is getting generated there.

Tried lpr as root, tried printing test page from cups web ui, though
nothing produced a pdf.

Would appreciate your help.
