I checked: If I start with & up front, it doesn't slow down. But if I hit
Ctrl-Z bg after starting it, it starts slowing down.
Putting it back into foreground with fg is not found restoring the speed.
It's found to be repeatable.
I also noticed following message on terminal that may provide some hint:
udevadm settle - timeout of 5 s reached, the event queue contains:
/sys/module/squashfs (930)
I am running microcore Linux as guest and started the kernel with noapic
option to avoid the 8254 timer related bug.
