Thanks everyone who has responded.
Well it might be asked why I insist on building everything
from /usr/pkgsrc, and not use the "pre-built" packages. I
have in the past set myself the discipline of, in a new
install of NetBSD, "living" only with those pre-built
binaries.
My experience, alas, has been that sooner or later I run
into a conflict or disjunction between those packages and
something I may have (probably for unsound reasons) built
from pkgsrc. So I have clung to my old (probably
unsupportable) habit of building *everything* I need for my
userland from pkgsrc.
It's now crystal-clear that I need to take a look at
pkgtools and catch up with the 21st century here in NetBSD
land.
THX!
