To be more specific, it seems that now the pppoe interface
is set to down - it won't reconnect until I manually
do an 'ifconfig pppoe0 up', and then the pppoe session
will be reestablished.

Why (and since when) does pppoe do reset the UP flag,
and what I am supposed to do to avoid that?
