Issues with (at least some types of) wm in -8 are known, and being
worked on. Or at least that is how it appears on the lists... I
doubt that's related to any of the other issues.

I was assuming you'd just download one from one of the daily builds, but
that way works as well...
If you have the system more or less stable, and with a working network,
it would probably help to boot time dmesg (/var/run/dmesg.boot) in case
anything there is meaningful to someone.
