firefox and maxfiles and rlimit.descriptors
I have updated to 9.1 and have updated pkgsrc packages too amongst them
firefox.
The rendering with firefox seems to be highly file based: tiles being
processed with temporary files. With html pages with a lot of files
opened---typically news agregator with a lot of thumbs, a lot of js
files, a lot of adds and opening in new tabs---the limits are rapidly
reached and the rendering produces black tiles with rendering being
stalled and the display, as long as firefox cache is empty, being
nonsense.
I have increased kern.maxfiles (the default of 956 being too low).
But how to increase proc.curproc.rlimit.descriptors.{hard,soft}?
Whatever I give to soft, sysctl refuses with "invalid argument".
BTW, sysctl(7) still mentions proc.pid but this doesn't exist.
Apparently it is proc.curproc now.
TIA,
