Re: Captain a chroot management system

I approache the NetBSD IRC a bunch of years ago (I was using linux vservers back then) and asked if there was any intention of doing something similar because back then I had NetBSD running on some machine and some guys on the channel came after me as if I was a troll of some sort and kept pushing Xen, which I had already been using in Linux anyway.  I tried to tell him that with NetBSD's light weight model, it would be an amazing thing to have something like vservers and zones but that didn't go too far, so I let it be and went back to Linux.  I'm glad to see something like that.  It would be great to have something like Proxmox running on NetBSD.  It's too great of an OS to not get to enjoy the kind of success it could really have.

I haven't used it in many years, but, as you can see, I still receive the email even though I'm only using Linux now.  NetBSD for ever!!!!

Hi,
I previously wrote here about a jail-like feature for NetBSD. Unfortunately, I'm not coming with such software (yet). However, I did create my own "chroot management system" over the last few months. If some of you might be interested in such a thing have a look here: https://gitlab.com/jusavard/captain/.

It"s all shell scripts inspired by "sailor" with some behavior from Solaris Zones and some terminology from docker. Nothing too much complicated (well in my opinion).

Feel free to send me your comments or even contribute if you want but please keep in mind it is still under development.
