I'm not super surprised. Some things can be made to work, and basically: when posting, be precise about the model of MBP and the list of what does and doesn't work. It's far more likely somebody will have something useful to say, the more specific the problem is. Look at dmesg to see what devices are found. Maybe try current, but for old hardware I wouldn't expect much improvement over 9. If you tried 8, use 9 instead. Read wsmouse(4) and the referenced man pages. Look in FreeBSD and Linux lists/etc. to see if the trackpad works in those. Don't expect the wifi interface to work. On a 2008-ish MacBookPro, I see in netbsd-9 dmesg [ 19.778173] uhidev3 at uhub6 port 2 configuration 1 interface 0 [ 19.778173] uhidev3: Apple Computer (0x5ac) Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad (0x21a), rev 2.00/0.18, addr 3, iclass 3/1 [ 19.798184] ukbd1 at uhidev3 [ 20.208430] wskbd1 at ukbd1 mux 1 [ 20.208430] wskbd1: connecting to wsdisplay0 [ 20.208430] uhidev4 at uhub6 port 2 configuration 1 interface 1 [ 20.208430] uhidev4: Apple Computer (0x5ac) Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad (0x21a), rev 2.00/0.18, addr 3, iclass 3/1 [ 20.228440] uhidev4: 5 report ids [ 20.228440] ums1 at uhidev4 reportid 2: 3 buttons [ 20.228440] wsmouse1 at ums1 mux 0 [ 20.228440] uhid3 at uhidev4 reportid 5: input=63, output=0, feature=16 [ 20.228440] uhidev5 at uhub6 port 2 configuration 1 interface 2 [ 20.228440] uhidev5: Apple Computer (0x5ac) Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad (0x21a), rev 2.00/0.18, addr 3, iclass 3/0 [ 20.238448] uhid4 at uhidev5: input=1, output=0, feature=0 but I don't often run X as it is a package/test box with no battery.
