Broken pipe

Hi...

On a freshly installed 9.2 amd64 system I downloaded and installed the source tarballs.  I'm now trying to update them and running into issues.  Updating using 'cvs -q up -dP -rnetbsd-9' starts off promisingly but ends up with ' client_loop: send disconnect: Broken pipe        
cvs [update aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages if any)'.

As per the guide I set 
export CVSROOT="anoncvs%anoncvs.NetBSD.org@localhost:/cvsroot"
export CVS_RSH="ssh"

Any thoughts?
