If you are interested in helping out a project there is the PowerPC Notebook project that seems to have gotten into some jams with uboot.

I don't think the board they are using is "newer", or exactly what you were thinking of, but it'd be great to see NetBSD on one of these things and if you're also helping a good project then that's win/win right?
