I did:

newfs_udf -L BIGDISK -F -s 700M /dev/rcd0d

mount -t udf /dev/cd0a /cdrom

That works -- but 'mount -r -t cd9660 /dev/cd0a /cdrom'
fails.

trivial suggestion, but try -t udf for mount ?

What happened here? Dow do I do
newfs_cd9660  (that does not exist) -- all these disks are UDF
filesystems ...
