 I just noticed you replied about the gnome-term problem I was having.  
 gnats musta eaten it.
 
 When I launch a gnome-term it says:
 ** (gnome-terminal:15083): WARNING **: Error reading PTY size, using 
 defaults: Inappropriate ioctl for device.
 
 And in /var/log/messages:
 set{u,g}id pid 4698 (gnome-pty-helper) was invoked by uid 502 ppid 
 27974 (gnome-terminal) with fd 2 closed
 
 
 This occurs with both my home-brew kernel and a GENERIC 2.0 kernel.
