This might have to do with us doing "#define BSD 1" in unixconf.h
You may attempt to fix the problem by commenting that line out and uncommenting
#define SYSV a few lines below. 

Unfortunately I can't test this, since I don't have access to mandrake linux.
I will, however, attempt to reproduce the problem next week when I have
access to a linux system (which is not mandrake, though.
