After installing wine from pkgsrc, wine is unable to run any of its included 
programs e.g. sol, notepad.

It just gives the folowing error:

wine: creating configuration directory '/home/mark/.wine'...

it just sits here.

If the directory is created and you try again you get

bash-3.00$ wine sol

Warning: could not find DOS drive for current working directory '/home/mark', 
starting in the Windows directory.
wine: cannot open (null)
