No, but I will.
Now, the docs are not very verbose around 'how to update pkgsrc' other
than "To update the collection on your system follow the same
instructions as for first time installation."
That and the lines in section 31.1 abut "don't forget to back up your
/usr/pkgsrc/distfiles subdirectory before removing /usr/pkgsrc. This
directory is used to store downloaded source tarballs, if you remove
this directory your system" sure are confusing to someone new to
netbsd. Why would I remove /usr/pkgsrc?
Can I just download the tarball and uncompress it on top of what is
there? =20
CVS was mentioned as a way to update pkg_src... is that outlined
anywhere?
Is there a 'cvsup' like freebsd?
Are there more docs/info on using pkgsrc than the 'guide'?
Aha! I just found http://netbsd.org/Documentation/pkgsrc/
That took a bit of clicking however. Ill play there for a while.
(perhaps that should be made more visitble (linked to in the guide?) for
us new folk.
Thanks again for the friendly responses. It's a nice way to start out
with netbsd!=20
