neato. X has been working without any issues at all since then.

I have a netpbm buglet to report, however:

ld: util/filename.o: relocation R_X86_64_32 against `a local symbol'
can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
util/filename.o: could not read symbols: Bad value
 gmake[1]: *** [libnetpbm.so.10.33] Error 1
 gmake[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/pkgsrc/graphics/netpbm/work/netpbm-10.33/=
 lib'
 gmake: *** [lib/all] Error 2
 *** Error code 2

Should someone have the pkgsrc package use -fPIC in case of amd64?
