 A workaround for this problem is to set in /etc/mk.conf
 PKG_OPTIONS.SDL+= -arts
 when you have -arts in PKG_OPTIONS.mplayer
 
 Maybe having simply
 PKG_DEFAULT_OPTIONS+= -arts
 in /etc/mk.conf is the best choice
