 While it is not supported, I have successfully used it for at least a year 
 under NetBSD.
 
 I installed Xorg from pkgsrc to /usr/X11R6. pkgsrc thinks it is native and 
 all is well. And x11-links has been modified as needed (at least as known) 
 to work with this.
 
 Getting xorg to install, I did something like:
  X11_TYPE=xorg and X11ROOT_PREFIX=X11R6 and LOCALBASE=/usr
 (not in mk.conf -- but just for xorg).
 
 I don't know if it still works that way though (as I am using modular Xorg 
 from pkgsrc-wip).
