 I found the problem during the fetch phase.  It was
 my source, as you suggested.
 
 It is not enough to update only mail/thunderbird to pkgsrc-2006Q3.  
 You also have to update www/seamonkey to 2006Q3.  
 I left any and all remaining packages at 2006Q2.
 
 $ export CVSROOT=anoncvs%anoncvs3.us.NetBSD.org@localhost:/cvsroot
 $ export CVS_RSH=ssh
 $ rm -R /usr/pkgsrc/mail/thunderbird
 $ cd /usr/pkgsrc/mail
 $ cvs co -P -d thunderbird -r pkgsrc-2006Q3 pkgsrc/mail/thunderbird
 $ rm -R /usr/pkgsrc/www/seamonkey
 $ cd /usr/pkgsrc/www
 $ cvs co -P -d seamonkey -r pkgsrc-2006Q3 pkgsrc/www/seamonkey
 $ cd /usr/pkgsrc/www/seamonkey
 $ make clean
 $ cd /usr/pkgsrc/mail/thunderbird
 $ make clean
 $ make
 
 I deleted the older installed thunderbird pkg from 2006Q2, and
 then make reinstall.
 
 It works!

  are you sure you have pristine 2006Q3 sources?  works for me just fine.
