About the same problem w/ 4.0_RC5/i386 (I'll upgrade to 4.0 stable later)
here; ATM the machine in question is undergoing some modifications so I'll
give you the uname later, if necessary. I can't recall getting the pthread
warnings, but I'll try and reproduce them. winecfg works fine but once
Unreal starts and splits off the primary UScript thread, wine hangs in
sawait. I've done some research, and confirmed this problem is known.
http://mail-index.netbsd.org/netbsd-help/2007/01/16/0000.html hints at a
problem with the wine team's 'understanding of phreads on BSD platforms'
(paraphrased, but accurate enough). However, POSIX has the letter 'S' in
it's name for a reason, and it's entirely possible the wine team is trying
to conceal something more broken, be it political or technical; however,
to my best knowledge, no conclusive evidence either way has surfaced.
For the record, I've also tried running several older versions of wine
from ditto branches of pkgsrc, but they all seem to be broken, as well.
