 Sorry, no idea, I don't actually have a genuine 3.0 system to try on,
 and my real systems have much more recent pkgtools installed already
 (even the ones with relatively old OS's).
 
 However, if I did have a genuine (untarnished) 3.0 to use, I expect it
 would happen just the same way.
 
 The PR on pkg_comp was because it wasn't updating pkgtools the way it was
 hoping it would - that is, it specifically anticipates this potential
 problem, and attempts to handle it (the way a normal user might by manually
 installing pkgtools/pkg_install before doing almost anything else).
 
 That failed, which left the pkg_comp sandbox looking pretty much exactly
 like a freshly installed 3.0 would look, after that, it is just doing
 "make package" (effectively) of whatever packages need making (whatever
 ones I tell it to make - which in this case is whichever ones a script of
 mine tells me I have out of date binary packages for, after moving those
 out of the way.)
