 The patch was taken from this Samba bug:

 I've added the patch to the "samba" package in "pkgsrc" and "smbclient"
 displayed garbage for the operating system and server version afterwards.
 This might be related to the fact that the patch is for version 3.0.27a
 and 3.0.26a. The best way forward is probably to update to version 3.0.28a
 which should contain the fix.
