When I send SIGUSR1 to Apache 2.2.10 on my system it produces similar
error messages ....

... but there servers works without problem afterwards.

I don't think this is a problem with the "apache22" package. It's probably
either a bug in NetBSD or in Apache itself. But we'll need more information
to tell what the actual problem is.

Can you please try to "ktrace" the "httpd" process when it hangs?
