>Description:
There are several problems with the pkgsrc mirrors:
- most ftp daemons do not support "dir bash*.t[bg]z" which pkg_add uses to
locate bash package. Note the [] in the glob. Accessing the mirror through http
somewhat works but it is slow. Also the mirrors are listed as ftp in the mirror
list, NetBSD has no documented http mirrors.
- In the mirror list it is not noted which mirrors carry packages at all,
which are up-to-date, and which carry some development snapshots (if any).
For example, the packages on ftp.nl.netbsd.org are under /pub/NetBSD and are
apparently quite old. Also the server does not support pkg_add thriugh ftp.
The latest packages on ftp.fr.netbsd.org are
/pub/pkgsrc/packages/NetBSD/i386/4.0_2009Q1 but the site does not have the
2009Q1 source or has it in a place different from ftp.netbsd.org
(/pub/pkgsrc/pkgsrc-2009Q1).
The packages linked as /pub/pkgsrc/packages/NetBSD-4.0 are 2008Q4 which is not
the latest but there are indeed packages that are not in 2009Q1 - is 2009Q1
still not built?
>How-To-Repeat:
add binary packages from ftp
