 I have always left the source of MesaLib up to the system/pkgsrc
 machinery. I've never done anything to select or influence where it
 comes from.

 In the past, even though I have always used the xsrc X11, many packages
 would still pull in MesaLib from pkgsrc. For that reason, I kept

    PKG_OPTIONS.MesaLib=i386

 in my "/etc/mk.conf" file. If that's a stale option, that might be
 causing problems.

 Just now, I removed (commented out) that option and the problem persists.
 Perhaps it originates with a prior package?
